Pavel Kroupa by Zach Martin - Nov 12
I decided to learn about a fascinating case of a finding that challenges Newton's laws of gravity. There was recently a cluster of stars that essentially was never seen before in this type of formation. Star clusters consist of two tails when they are beginning to disappear, a front tail and a back tail. The number of stars in each tail has always been equal, but for the first time, there were far more stars in the front tail than in the back tail. This was not just one cluster though, each cluster of stars studied showed the same results of far more stars in the front tail. These stars are disappearing faster than Newton's laws predict they should and actually supports an alternative theory of gravity that is quite controversial. I have to admit that some of the science here is lost on me, but nevertheless, I find it fascinating. Pavel Kroupa is a professor at University of Bonn who participated in the experiment. He majored in physics at the University of Australia in Perth.
