Dr. John D. Murray, PhD

 John D Murray

Dr. John D. Murray is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Psychiatry at Yale University. Dr. Murray received his bachelor’s degree in Physics and Mathematics at Yale University and then went on to complete his Ph.D. in Physics at Yale. For his Ph.D. in Physics, he worked with Dr. Xiao-Jing Wang in the field of Computational Neuroscience.

In 2015, he joined the faculty at Yale School of Medicine in the Department of Psychiatry. He now directs a computational neuroscience lab and is interested in using computational modeling to understand psychiatric disorders.

Currently, the Murray lab is investigating the dynamics and function of neural circuits. They use a systems neuroscience approach to model circuits and build biophysically-based neural circuit models that cover a wide range of scale and complexity. Using these models, the Murray lab advances the study of mood and personality disorders within the framework of computational neuroscience.
