Dr. Simon Horsley

Dr. Simon Horsley is currently a senior research fellow at the University of Exeter. He received and undergraduate degree in Physics with Philosophy at University of York in 2005. In 2009, he received his PhD from the same university. He has additionally been a part of the Royal Society TATA University Research Fellowship since 2016.

Horsley's research focuses primarily on topics such as electromagnetism, wave physics, and the behavior of light. He has done a great deal of research on concept of refraction and the refractive properties of many materials. Such research would provide great room for improvement in wireless technologies, internet speeds, and much more. Horsley is also interested in the relationship between macroscopic and microscopic bodies. He wants to know more about how macroscopic bodies can influence currently established quantum properties.

Currently, Horsley has been working on a project aimed ad discovering new ways to manipulate light itself. His theoretical approach makes use of electromagnetic regulate the path of light as it travels through space. Topology has been a major influence on the shaping of his ideas, a field that is complex and well worth the read. Ultimately, he is using uncommon materials to change the behavior of light through their electromagnetic properties. He hopes this will lead to great advances in much of the technology we use today.
