I was listening to the song "Don't Stop Me Now" by Queen when I started to notice just how odd the lyrics were. Many of the discrepancies dealt with physics from Physics 112. However, one section could be proved faulty with kinematics. Freddie Mercury says: "I'm a racing car passing by like Lady Godiva/I'm gonna go go go/There's no stopping meeeeeee". While he probably meant this metaphorically, I'm going to take it literally. Lady Godiva is a legend from biblical times. She was unspeakably beautiful and was told that in order to save her people, she had to ride naked on her horse through the village. Assuming she was riding bareback, Lady Godiva could not have traveled at more than a walk. A walking horse travels at about 1.7 m/s. Freddie Mercury seems to be implying that his race car is also traveling at 1.7 m/s. However, he also cannot be stopped. How far is Freddie Mercury going in his race car that he cannot be stopped at 1.7 m/s?

A race car can decelerate from 55.5 m/s to 0 m/s in 5 seconds
vf= vo + at
0m/s=55.5m/s + a*5s
a=-11.1 m/s2
How far is he going:
vf=0m/s
vo=1.7m/s
a= -11.1 m/s2
vf2 =vo2 +2a(xf −xo )
(0m/s)2= (1.7m/s)2 + 2(-11.1 m/s2)x
x=0.13m

Freddie Mercury must be going less than 0.13m if it is impossible to stop his race car traveling at 1.7m/s
